Thai electric car ambitions attract foreign carmakers
It has been more than two years since the Thai government launched its domestic electric car ambition. The project receives about 20 to 30 investment applications from large foreign companies focused on opening car assemblies, major automotive factories, and Battery charging station, electric car etc.
Thai Investment Commission (BoI) Director General Duangjai Asawachintachit on Monday confirmed that her agency has approved nine hydropower projects. Construction of an automobile assembly plant worth $ 1.65 billion. These plans include four Hybrid Plugins, four Hybrid Plug-in and one battery-electric car project.
Toyota and Honda have begun production in Thailand for the Hybrid electric car project, while Mercedes-Benz and BMW have requested policy support from Thai Government for Hybrid Plug-in
