Sitting too long that doesn't wake up can be detrimental to health

Researchers from Liverpool John Moores University in the U.K. have found evidence of reduced blood flow to the brain in people who are sitting longer.  Published in the journal Applied Physiology, the team described the experiments they conducted with the volunteers and what they found.

Most people know that sitting too long that doesn't get up can be harmful.  In addition, it contributes to weight gain, can cause pain and foot problems, and can cause other illnesses.  And now the evidence has been researched that it may reduce blood flow to the brain.  And what has been shown in the past to contribute to neurological disorders such as dementia.

Sitting for a long time may cause brain problems, researchers joined 15 volunteers, each with a day's work that required longer hours.  Each volunteer participated in three separate exercises and experiments and sat for four hours.  In each experiment, they were equipped with a head-mounted device for measuring blood flow to the brain using ultrasound.  Each unit also has a face mask to capture and measure carbon dioxide levels.

Exercise # 1: Volunteers are asked to sit at a table for four hours, only getting up when they go to the bathroom.

Exercise 2: They can get up every 30 minutes and get on the treadmill for two minutes.

Exercise 3: All you need to do is to sit in their chair for two hours and then walk on the treadmill for eight minutes and then return to the chair.
